A colleague turned me on to Microsoft’s Live Search Club. It’s a way to convert my online crossword playing habit into “tickets” redeemable for real merchandise. I’ve decided to aim for the top prize, the Xbox 360 and I’m about 1/6 of the way there. [Edit: now 1/3]
I am truly obsessed with this. The family is out of town so I can play a little longer than usual.
My nine year old son was accepted today into a program called Dimensions in the Clarkstown NY public school district. This is a program for intellectually gifted children. Thank goodness for his mother’s genes!
If it sounds like I’m bragging, it’s because I am.
Played last night at Lucy’s Lounge in Pleasantville, NY with a substitute drummer who was the best yet.
It was especially remarkable that an audience member sought me ought to tell me in particular how good my Warwick bass sounded; he was very into the details of the type of wood (African ovangkol) and brand of strings. I realize now that I mispoke; Thomastik-Infield – think I called them something like Thomasfield-Intek… nonetheless it’s good to hear from an impartial judge, particularly as I was not looking forward to the gig earlier on on the day.
Odd also that the drummer, who I met for the first time said I looked familiar. I was sure we never met. He insisted when I put my bass on that he had seen me somewhere. Six Degrees. I have a feeling that I’m just a familiar-looking person.
My new employer has published my first game, for which I created all the art as well as developed the Flash ActionScript. It seems to be a big success (and by “success” I mean it hasn’t crashed and burned). It’s based on on the “I-Spy” game genre and may result in episodic content throughout the summer.

Since the main gist of my blog intends to be “light” and journal-like, I could not think of anything appropriate. To not blog about it would be wrong; but since I feel the direction of this blog is likely light-hearted fare, I waited a few weeks out of respect for the lives lost.
